Mrs Brooks said: “I have got a three-year-old boy called Leo and it has made me think of children’s charities, in particular the NSPCC.

“You hear in the news of cases of child abuse and that it really happens and I just wanted to do something to help.

“Children’s safety is something which is obviously quite close to my heart.”

Mrs Brooks said: “My dad has quite a good fitness level but the rest of us started training

“We have gradually built it up one mile at a time.”

The group has been training for 10 weeks solid for the 13.2-mile run, which will start at Darbeck Road, Scotter and go via Messingham, Kirton in Lindsey farmshop, Scotton, and Gainsborough Road before returning to Darbeck Road.

The group has so far raised Pounds 300 but they are hoping to get more cash before and on the day.
